CAS number : 1314-62-1
Molecular weight :
Molecular formula/chemical symbol :V2O5
Description :
Orange, red brown crystalline powder or to black sheet. Melting point (℃) : 690, boiling point (℃) : 1750 (breakdown), solubility: slightly soluble in water, not soluble in ethanol, soluble in strong acid, alkali, amphoteric oxide, but the acid is given priority to. 700 ℃ above significant volatile. 700 ~ 1125 ℃ is decomposed into oxygen and vanadium tetroxide, these properties make it became a lot of organic and inorganic reaction catalyst. For strong oxidizing agents, easy to be restored into various low oxide. Slightly soluble in water, easy to form a stable colloidal solution. It is easy to dissolve in the base, in weak alkali conditions can generate vanadate (VO3 -). Soluble in strong acid (usually in pH = 2 or so up solution) don‘t generate vanadium acid radical ion, and generate goods state oxygen base vanadium ion (VO2 +). For toxic substances, and the air is the biggest allowance less than 0.5 mg/m3.
USES :
Vanadium is a kind of nonferrous metal, vanadium pentoxide are widely used in metallurgy, chemical industry, mainly used for smelting ferrovanadium. Used for alloy additive, accounting for 80% of total consumption of the vanadium pentoxide above, the second is used as organic
chemical catalyst, namely catalyst, accounts for about 10% of the total, the other place used for inorganic chemical products, chemical reagent, enamel and magnetic materials, and other accounts for about 10% of the total amount
